Easter Monday, 1916

To mark the centenary celebrations of the 1916 Rising, Branar presents a theatre show for audiences aged 8 to 108!  Maloney’s Dream is a family-friendly action-packed, bi-lingual show full of live music, physical theatre, animations and puppetry.

Set against the background of Easter Week 1916, this is a captivating story
of how one man’s dream collided with the birth of a nation. Thaddeus Maloney returns home to Ireland to realise his dream of opening a new hotel on Sackville Street (now O’Connell Street). However, it’s Easter Monday 1916 and the events of that week impact his plans.  Using diary entries and recorded personal accounts, the show explores
the impact the Rising had on the lives

of ordinary people and introduces audiences to the history that shaped

our country.

With a fantastically talented ensemble cast, set design by Maeve Clancy, original score by Michael Chang and puppets by Suse Reibeisch this will be

a treat of a show for all ages.

Presented in association with Roscommon Arts Centre.

Maloney’s Dream is part of the Ireland 2016 Centenary programme for Galway City to commemorate the 1916 Rising.

  • Running Time: 1 hour
  • Suitable for audiences aged 8 to 108!
  • Performances are open to the general public and to schools
